Fri. Mar. 21 - Queen for a Day

The primary school, Gilberto Flores Munoz, across the street from our treehouse, was celebrating the First Day of Spring, with the crowning of the King and Queen of Spring, and the Prince and Princess.  The parade followed down through the streets of Bucerias, with all the children in bright colourful costumes loaded onto floats.

The Spring Vernal Equinox officially begins at 12:57 p.m. EDT on March 20 - the same time that the sun will have crossed directly over the Earth's equator. The event will cause day and night to be about equal today, and marks the very first day of the 2014 spring season.
Although colder temperatures are still ahead for Canadians, the season of spring is also associated with ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth - marking the perfect time to celebrate International Happiness Day, which was yesterday.

Rob and Sue were invited into the school and encouraged to take pictures.

Philomena was Queen for a Day.

Next year, that might be one of us.

I want to be King next year!
