Every gringo here in Bucerias Centro is looking for the freshest, tastiest chicken and today we found it! A local farmer kills about 6 every day and sets up his little chopping block in the market around 9 a.m. and waits. By 10 a.m., he is sold out. Susan and I were there about 9:15 a.m. and we managed to have a choice. The chickens were all perfectly cleaned and were a bright yellow. (Our chicken in Canada is white because it is bleached.)
We continued on our morning walk in search of fresh bread, and low and behold we came across a gringo market. We purchased fresh out-of-the-oven organic sourdough, whole wheat, and walnut/raisin bread, along with the tastiest carrot cake and Mexican coffee. Since Robert is on meds for his sciatica, which has constipated him, he decided to use coffee as a laxative. Let's hope it works folks, stay tuned.
The afternoon was spent in the tree house, grooming the many tropical plants, which live on the roof of the AnaRuth hotel. Susan loves plants so much, she was in heaven, cutting and pruning and watering. Around 4 p.m., we spent some quality time on the beach, wading in the warm waters of the Pacific, and then paid a quick visit at Betty's place, before we shopped in the local grocery stores for some basics, such as a foil pan and milk. Betty joined us for some of that delicious fresh chicken, which turned out to be as tough as hell. No more 9 a.m. chicken man adventures for us.
